If you’re a fan of the comic book-inspired TV show The Cape, don’t despair that it was cancelled. Universal Studios Home Entertainment released all the series’ episodes on DVD on July 5, 2011.
The Cape stars David Lyons (TV’s E.R.) as an honest cop who’s framed for murder. After he’s in an accident and presumed dead, he goes undercover and becomes The Cape, his son’s favorite comic book superhero, to take down the bad guys, even if it means leaving behind his wife (Jennifer Ferrin of TV’s Life On Mars) and son (Ryan Wynott of TV’s FlashForward). Lyons joins Summer Glau (Serenity) and a ragtag team of thieves, including Keith David (Death at a Funeral), to fight the bigger criminals, such as Vinnie Jones (Snatch).
Although the action television show looked promising when it launched on NBC, it didn’t take off the way network executives had hoped, with its first — and only — season cut down in episodes and the final show airing only online.
The show was released in a two-DVD set.
