Assuming another identity becomes a nightmare in the BBC TV show Orphan Black.
The science-fiction television series stars Tatiana Maslany (The Vow) as Sarah, a streetwise hustler who witnesses a suicide and sees an opportunity. The woman who killed herself, called Beth, bares a similarity to Sarah, so the orphan decides to pretend to be Beth, taking her identity, her money and her boyfriend.
The switch doesn’t quite turn out as she hoped, however, when she’s thrust into a deep mystery. Sarah discovers that she and the dead woman are clones and finds herself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy, racing to find answers.
The 10-part British TV show also stars Jordan Gavaris (TV’s Degrassi), Dylan Bruce (TV NCIS), Maria Doyle Kennedy (TV’s Downton Abbey) and Michael Mando (TV’s The Killing).
Orphan Black: Season One scored well with critics. Newsday‘s Diane Werts called the show “a head-spinning, yet deeply humane thrill ride.”
