New Release: The Expendables DVD and Blu-ray

The Expendables movie sceneWith talk of a sequel going on, action movie The Expendables, starring Sylvester Stallone (Rambo), Bruce Willis (Armageddon) and Jason Statham (Transporter), was released on DVD, Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and digital download on Nov. 23, 2010, from Lionsgate.

The movie, which grossed $102 million in theaters, also features action stars Jet Li (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor), Dolph Lundrgen (Universal Soldier), former wrestler Steve Austin, Terry Crews (Lottery Ticket) and Mickey Rourke (Iron Man 2) as a crew of mercenaries who are sent on a suicide mission to stop a ruthless dictator (Dexter‘s David Zayas) in South America. But the dictator is really being controlled by bad guys Eric Roberts (Crimes of the Past) and former wrestler Randy Couture. Stallone also co-wrote and directed The Expendables.

The DVD and Blu-ray include these special features:

  • deleted scenes
  • gag reel
  • and a commentary with Stallone.

The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack also offers:

  • the feature-length behind-the-scenes documentary “Inferno,” about the movie’s filmmaking from Stallone’s point of view
  • the Expendables panel from Comic-Con 2010 with Stallone, Lundgren, Couture, Crews and Austin
  • and “Ultimate Recon Mode,” in which Stallone and the others provide an all-access look at the making of the film while it runs.

The DVD was priced at $29.95 and the Blu-ray/DVD combo at $39.99.
