New Release: Frenemy DVD

Lionsgate released the dark comedy movie Frenemy on DVD on Dec. 14, 2010, for a suggested retail price of $26.98.

Originally entitled Little Fish, Strange Pond, the R-rated independent film stars Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket) and Callum Blue (TV’s Smallville) as two neurotic drifters wandering through the streets of Los Angeles. As they ruminate on life and death, they get involved in a bunch of Tarantino-esque escapades involving a porn store, a tabloid-styled TV show and a sociopathic cop working on the case of a missing woman.

The movie co-stars Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Adam Baldwin (TV’s Chuck), Liza Weil (TV’s Gilmore Girls) and Paul Adelstein (TV’s Private Practice).

Frenemy was directed by Gregory Dark, whose past credits span the spectrum from music videos (Britney Spears’ “From the Bottom of My Broken Heart”) to horror (See No Evil) to softcore straight-to-tape movies (the Animal Instincts series with Shannon Whirry) to at least one bona fide hardcore classic (New Wave Hookers from 1985).
