New Release: Biutiful DVD and Blu-ray

Biutiful movie sceneThe Oscar-nominated movie Biutiful was released on DVD, Blu-ray and for digital download on May 31, 2011, by Lionsgate.

Nominated for Best Actor (Javier Bardem, Eat Pray Love and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner for No Country for Old Men) and best foreign-language film, Biutiful tells the story of a man (Bardem) living on the wrong side of the law who’s struggling to provide for his children on the dangerous streets of Barcelona. As fate encircles him, Bardem learns to accept the realities of life, whether bright, bad or biutiful.

Although it didn’t take home an Academy Award, the film was a multiple winner, including best actor at the Cannes Film Festival. And it was nominated for a best foreign-language film Golden Globe.

The R-rated drama is based on a short story by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel), who directed and co-wrote the film.

Biutiful was released in limited theaters in the U.S. and grossed $3.8 million.

The DVD was priced at $27.98 and Blu-ray at $39.99.

Both formats include just one special feature: a making-of documentary.
