Trollhunter movie scene

There's roadwork ahead in Trollhunter.

Directed and co-written by Norwegian director Andre Ævredal (Future Murder), Trollhunter is a film about a creature thought only to exist in fairy tales.

Shot in vérité style a la Paranormal Activity 2 and Cloverfield, Trollhunter follows three Norwegian film students as they travel to the mountains to catch a real-life troll on camera, a creature whose existence has been covered up for years by the local government. Their persistence quickly pays off as they trail a shadowy poacher, leading them straight into the path of a gaggle of menacing trolls — which they document with their ever-present video cameras.

A big hit in its native Norway, this 2010 fantasy-horror-comedy hybrid movie opened on a few theater screens in the U.S. in early June 2011, following a well-received run at film festivals around the world.

Presented in Norwegian with English subtitles, the movie’s Blu-ray and DVD contain the following bonus features:

  • “Making of Trollhunter”
  • deleted scenes
  • HDNet “A Look at Trollhunter”
  • international trailer
