A science-fiction-flavored, action-filled family adventure film (whew!) Tomorrowland stars George Clooney and is co-written and directed by Brad Bird (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, The Incredibles).

The future is now in Tomorrowland

The future is now in Tomorrowland

In the movie, disillusioned former boy genius Frank (George Clooney, The Monuments Men), optimistic, science-minded teen Casey (Britt Robertson, The Family Tree), mysterious, young Athena (Raffey Cassidy, Dark Shadows) and the brilliant David Nix (Hugh Laurie, TV’s House) embark to a wonderfully strange and ambiguous dimension known as “Tomorrowland,” where their actions directly affect the world and themselves.

Pretty Disney-ish, hmmm?

Co-written by Damon Lindelof, the PG-rated Tomorrowland features supporting turns from two of our favorite ladies,  Kathryn Hahn (This Is Where I Leave You) and Judy Greer (The Descendants).

A gorgeous-looking and imaginative but undeniably muddled work, Tomorrowland garnered a not-great 50% rating at Rotten Tomatoes based upon 202 published reviews. The so-so critical response fueled the equally unenthusiastic $93 million domestic box office gross. (Remember when $93 million equaled blockbuster!?)

Tomorrowland will also be available on Disney Movies Anywhere on Oct. 13

The Blu-ray and DVD editions of the film are slated to include such bonus content as deleted scenes, a casting featurette, Brad Bird’s production diaries and more.
