Norwegian villagers catch The Wave

Headlined by Kristoffer Joner (The Revenant) and Ane Dahl Torp (1001 Grams), the film depicts events that every Norwegian fears may one day happen: the country’s largest unstable mountainside plummets tons of rock and earth into the fjord below. Its path of destruction causes a nearly 300-foot high wave that gives the people of the small town of Geiranger mere minutes to leave their homes and reach higher ground. Specifically, the film follows a geologist and his family as they race against the clock to survive the impending wave.

Presented in Norwegian with English subtitles, The Wave is  the first ever-Scandinavian disaster movie to bring the traditional Hollywood genre to the big screen. Special features pon the Blu-ray and DVD include a behind-the-scenes peek at the making of the film, an interview with the director Roar Uthaug (Escape), and a look at the film’s visual effects.

Oh, and the critics enjoyed this one—at Rotten Tomatoes, The Wave received a 6.6/10 rating based on an 78 published reviews.
