Vanessa Redgrave stars in The Aspern Papers.

In the period drama, ambitious editor Morton Vint (Meyers) is fascinated by the long-dead poet Jeffrey Aspern and by his idol’s short and wildly romantic life. He travels from America to Venice and rents rooms in the palazzo home of Juliana Bordereau (Redgrave), the woman who a lifetime ago was Aspern‘s lover and muse. Presents himself to the elderly recluse as merely a traveler looking to spend time in the magical city, Vint gets close to Juliana’s niece and caretaker Miss Tina (Richardson) in an end-around attemtp to get his hands on love letters that Aspern wrote to Juliana many decades in the past.

Both the Blu-ray and DVD include the featurette “Making Of: The Aspern Papers,” featuring a discussion with executive producer James Ivory, producer Gabriela Bacher and writer-director Julien Landais.
