The 2024 documentary Viva Verdi! takes an intimate look into the lives the lives of an older group of celebrated musicians and opera singers who are currently living out their “third act” while mentoring international music students who live among them at Milan’s unique retirement home, Casa Verdi, which was built by the great Giuseppe Verdi in 1896.

With aging bodies and timeless passion, these distinguished “guests of Verdi,” ranging in age from 77 to 103, prove age hasn’t dulled their love of music or relentless drive to create. And, yes, they are still actively creating and performing as they mentor the group of 16 gifted music students from around the world!

Viva Verdi! features the song “Sweet Dreams of Joy,” composed by Nicholas Pike and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song this year.

Directed and co-written by Yvonne Russo, the movie is currently available to stream at Jolt.film.
