New Release: Hatchet Blu-ray

Anchor Bay issued the Blu-ray edition of Adam Green’s slasher cult classic movie Hatchet on Sept. 7, 2010, a month before the sequel, Hatchet II, also directed by Green, was released.

A fan favorite movie since its 2007 premiere, Hatchet not only assembled some of the greatest modern horror film actors of the day to appear in the same film, but it introduced to audiences the first new horror icon in a generation: backwoods madman Victor Crowley.

The Hatchet Blu-ray was priced at $29.99.

With a stellar cast including Joel David Moore (Avatar), Mercedes McNab (TV’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Richard Riehle (Office Space) and horror cinema legends Robert Englund (the original Freddy Krueger), Tony Todd (Candyman), with Kane Hodder (Halloween‘s Jason Voorhees) as Victor Crowley, Hatchet is a gory throwback to the classic 1980s slasher/creature horror films.

The Blu-ray edition features a new 1080p high-definition transfer of the unrated “Director’s Cut” with Dolby TrueHD 5.1 high-resolution audio, all the bonus features from the original DVD release, and a new commentary track with co-producer/writer/director Green and Victor Crowley himself – Kane Hodder.
