The not-unappealing ensemble of Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings trilogy), Cheri Oteri (Scary Movie), Kevin Nealon (TV’s Weeds) and Martin Mull (TV’s Two and a Half Men) star in the 2011 comedy film And They’re Off…

The film centers on failed horse trainer Dusty Sanders (Astin) whose career is on the brink. Given one more chance to train a winning horse after losing his girlfriend Dee (Oteri), along with the three horses he’s been training), Sanders must overcome the odds – and his eccentric family and social group – to return to the winner’s circle.

Helmed by veteran television director Rob Schiller (TV’s The King of Queens),  And They’re Off… is a mock documentary-style film in the Christopher Guest mold that’s been billed as “Best in Show Meets Secretariat.”

Though the PG-13-rated film opened in a theater or two in October, 2011, And They’re Off… is essentially premiering on DVD.
