The CampaignWill Ferrell (Everything Must Go) and Zach Galifianakis (Due Date) get in the election spirit in The Campaign, whose DVD and Blu-ray debut is timed for the 2012 Presidential elections.

The comedy movie depicts a North Carolina district election. Ferrell plays the incumbant, long-term congressman Cam Brady. Galifianakis is Marty Huggins, director of the local Tourism Center. Looking to gain control over their district, two CEOs thrust Huggins into the political arena as their candidate to oust Brady. Let the mud slinging and back stabbing begin…

The R-rated film was helmed by long-time comedy director Jay Roach, of Dinner for Schmucks, Meet the Fockers and the Austin Powers movies.

Also in the cast are comedy heavyweights Jason Sudeikis (Hall Pass) and Dan Aykroyd (The Blues Brothers) and the wonderful Brian Cox (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).

With mixed reviews from critics and moviegoers (69% and 57% approval, respectively, according to Rotten Tomatoes), The Campaign grossed $85 million in theaters, less than some of Ferrell’s other comedies, like The Other Guys ($119 million) and Step Brothers ($100 million).

The Blu-ray/DVD Combo includes an extended cut of the movie, as well as instant streaming and download via UltraViolet.
