Looper movie scene

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (r.) and Paul Dano go for a ride in Looper.

Bruce Willis (Catch .44), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises) and Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau) star in the time-tripping 2012 science fiction action-thriller Looper.

In the world of the future as seen in Looper, time travel will be invented — but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Willis) for assassination. Time travel just got a helluva lot more complicated…!

Written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick), Looper co-stars Jeff Daniels (TV’s The Newsroom), Paul Dano (Knight and Day) and Piper Perabo (TV’s Covert Affairs).

Looper was well-received by the critics upon its wide release to U.S. theaters in September, 2012, garnering an 8.1/10 rating at Rotten Tomatoes based upon 211 published critics reviews. It also did respectable numbers at the box office, raking in some $64 million in the U.S.
