Woody Allen’s (Magic in the Moonlight) 1985 comedy-drama fantasy The Purple Rose of Cairo makes its Blu-ray debut from Twilight Time.

Depressed during the Depression, a downtrodden housewife/waitress (Mia Farrow, Broadway Danny Rose) finds her world turned upside down when her favorite movie star (Jeff Daniels, Something Wild) literally steps down from the screen with decidedly romantic intentions.

A touching piece about the dangers of confusing dreams with reality, gorgeously rendered by the great cinematographer Gordon Willis, the movie features a supporting cast that includes Van Johnson (Rich Man, Poor Man), Danny Aiello (Once Upon a Time in America) and Dianne Weist (The Big Year).

Twilight Time’s Blu-ray debut of the film includes an isolated score track and original theatrical trailer as bonus features.
