With the glossy 1987 crime thriller Black Widow, maverick director Bob Rafelson (Five Easy Pieces) gives us the alluring tale of deception, desire and murder.

Debra Winger and Theresa Russell in Black Widow

Debra Winger and Theresa Russell in Black Widow

In the film, a seductress (Theresa Russell, Insignificance) marries and murders a series of wealthy men, getting away with her crimes until an equally clever female adversary – a Justice Department drone (Debra Winger, Lola Versus) as bewitched as she is repelled by her quarry – picks up her Black Widow’s scent.

The movie also stars Dennis Hopper (Blue Velvet), Sami Frey (Band of Outsiders), and Nicol Williamson (Excalibur) as an entertaining trio of poor saps. Terry O’Quinn (TV’s Lost) is also on board as Winger’s concerned editor.

This critical and commercial success was shot by the great Conrad Hall (Fat City) and features a superlative score from Michael Small, which is available on this Twilight Time release as an isolated track.

As supplier Twilight Time prints up only 3,000 copies of each title, be sure to keep on the Twilight Time site or that of distributor Screen Archives for the July 29 prebook date!
