Small Town Murder Songs movie scene

Peter Stormare sets out to solve a slaying in Small Town Murder Songs.

Monterey Media released the 2010 crime thriller film Small Town Murder Songs on DVD on July 19, 2011.

The movie stars Peter Stormare (The Big Lebowski) as an aging small town police officer who is called to the scene of his town’s first murder investigation in decades. A young, unidentified woman has been found dead by the lake, the victim of a brutal and violent crime.

Haunted by his past, and hampered by the mistrust of the community and a state police officer overseeing the investigation, Stormare sets out to solve the murder, complicated by his ex-lover (Jill Hennessey, TV’s Crossing Jordan) and his suspicion of her current boyfriend. As he delves deeper into the crime, his newly reformed life begins to unravel, threatening his relationship with Sam (Martha Plimpton, TV’s Raising Hope) and intertwining itself within the investigation and possibly the murder itself.

Small Town Murder Songs is the second feature film directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly, whom Variety named as one of their 10 Directors to Watch.

No special features are on the DVD, which carries the list price of $26.95.
