While Abraham Lincoln battles vampires, a different president takes on another kind of supernatural creature in the independent spoof movie FDR: American Badass. (Love that name!)
The comedy film stars Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) as wheelchair-bound President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who must save the world from werewolves that carry the polio virus. Along the way, FDR must battle werewolf versions of Hitler, Mussolini and Emperor Hirohito, among others.
Lin Shaye (There’s Something About Mary) plays Eleanor Roosevelt, Kevin Sorbo (Soul Surfer) is Abraham Lincoln and Ray Wise (X-Men: First Class) is General Douglas MacArthur. The movie’s cast also includes busy character actor Bruce McGill (TV’s Rizzoli & Isles), William Mapother (Another Earth) and Paul Ben-Victor (TV’s In Plain Sight).
The first public screening of FDR: American Badass is at the 2012 Comic-Con on July 13, followed by a Q&A with writer Ross Patterson (Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury) and stars Bostwick, Shaye, Sorbo, Mapother and Ben-Victor.
