A Glimpse Inside the Mind Of Charles Swan III movie scene

Charlie Sheen (r.), Jason Schwartzman (l.), and Bill Murray don their boots to take A Glimpse Inside the Mind Of Charles Swan III.

The irrepressible Charlie Sheen (TV’s Two And A Half Men) stars alongside Jason Schwartzman (Moonrise Kingdom), and Bill Murray (Hyde Park on Hudson) in the comedy A Glimpse Inside the Mind Of Charles Swan III.

Set in a stylized Los Angeles, Charles (Sheen) is a successful graphic designer whose fame, money and charm have provided him with a seemingly perfect life.  When his true love, a perplexing beauty named Ivana (Katheryn Winnick, Stand Up Guys), suddenly breaks off their relationship, Charles’ life falls apart and he swirls into a downward spiral of doubt, confusion and reflection.  With the support of his loyal pals Kirby (Schwartzman) and Saul (Murray) and his sister Izzy (Patricia Arquette, TV’s Medium), he begins the hard road of self-evaluation to come to terms with a life without Ivana.

Written and directed by Roman Coppola, Charles Swan III also stars Aubrey Plaza (TV’s Parks And Recreation) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Thing).

The R-rated film received a limited run in U.S. theaters in February, 2013. It received generally negative notices—the movie garnered a low 3.3/10 rating at Rotten Tomatoes based on 48 published reviews—but its cast and pedigree (Coppola co-wrote Moonrise Kingdom, for which he received an Oscar nomination) have definitely piqued our interest.

The Blu-ray and DVD contain the following bonus features:

  • Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Roman Coppola
  • “The Making of Charles Swan” featurette
  • “A Glimpse Into the Mind of Charles White” – an interview with artist Charles White, upon which the film is based
