New Release: Game of Death Blu-ray and DVD

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the action thriller movie Game of Death, starring Wesley Snipes (Brooklyn’s Finest), on Feb. 15, 2011, on Blu-ray and DVD for the suggested retail prices of $30.95 and $24.96, respectively.

In the film, Snipes is back as a bad-ass CIA agent, Marcus Jones, a professional hit man caught in a double-cross between his partners in the agency, a ruthless arms dealer and a powerful Wall Street broker worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Framed for a murder he didn’t commit and chased by expert assassins, Jones must clear his name before it’s too late.

Directed by Belgium filmmaker Giorgio Serafini, the R-rated Game of Death also stars Robert Davi (The Dukes), Gary Daniels (The Expendables) and Zoe Bell (Grindhouse).

Originally, the always-energizing Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant) was attached to direct Game of Death, but he apparently backed out in the fall of 2009 right before production was to commence. No reason was given, which definitely sounds like a Ferrara move to us.

The movie would have marked a reunion of sorts between Ferrara and Snipes, who worked together on the Ferrara’s 1990 King of New York.

Special features on the Game of Death DVD and Blu-ray include six mini-featurettes on the making of the film.
