New Release: Dallas Movie Collection DVD

Dallas War of the Ewings sceneWarner Home Video brought back the cast of infamous soap opera Dallas with Dallas: The Movie Collection on DVD on April 12, 2011.

Included in the set are four movies featuring the notorious characters from Southfork: a prequel, two reunion telefilms and a retrospective TV special.

The popular, award-winning prime-time soap opera, which aired from 1978 to 1991, revolved around oil tycoon J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman of TV’s I Dream of Jeannie) and his wealthy Texas family. The cast also included Patrick Duffy (TV’s The Bold and the Beautiful), Linda Gray (TV’s Melrose Place), Victoria Principal (TV’s Titans) and Charlene Tilton (TV’s The Love Boat).

Priced at $29.98, the Dallas: The Movie Collection DVD boxed set contains:

  • The Early Years, a 1986 prequel that showed the family before the start of the soap opera
  • reunion movies J.R. Returns from 1996 and The War of the Ewings from 1998, with J.R. scheming to take over Ewing Oil
  • and the 2004 retrospective special Return to Southfork, which offers clips, outtakes and reminiscences from the show’s stars.

During its 14-season run, Dallas was nominated for 14 Emmy awards and won four, nominated for 14 Golden Globe awards and won one, and was the No. 1 and No. 2 rated network series for five consecutive seasons.

All the seasons are already on DVD.
