New Release: Wild Target Blu-ray and DVD

After a quick visit to theaters, the latest well-cast comedy Wild Target was released on Blu-ray and DVD by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment on Feb. 8, 2011.

Starring Bill Nighy (Pirate Radio), Emily Blunt (The Wolfman), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series) and Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding) and directed by Jonathan Lynn (The Whole Nine Yards), Wild Target was released in about a dozen theaters in October to the tune of a $117,000 box-office take.

Essentially a British remake of the 1993 French film Cible Emouvante, the movie focuses on middle-age professional hit man Victor Maynard (Nighy), whose professional routine is interrupted when he falls for his intended hit, Rose (Blunt). When he spares Rose’s life, Victor inadvertently acquires a young apprentice, Tony (Grint). Believing Victor to be a private detective, his two new companions tag along, while Victor attempts to thwart the murderous intentions of his unhappy client.

The discs offer one bonus extra: the featurette “On Target With Emily Blunt,” who has become a rising star since The Devil Wears Prada and the science-fiction thriller The Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon.

The DVD and Blu-ray of Wild Target carry list prices of $29.99 and $22.98, respectively.
