New Release: The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D Blu-ray and DVD

The Ultimate Wave Tahiti movie scene

Kelly Slater takes on the big ones in Ultimate Wave Tahiti.

The Ultimate Wave Tahiti, a documentary directed by IMAX-film format veteran Stephen Low (Mark Twain’s America in 3D), was released by Image Entertainment in partnership with Big Picture Digital Productions, on 3D on Blu-ray and 2D on DVD on March 1, 2011.

The gorgeous-looking 2010 movie plunges audiences into the jaws of Tahiti’s famed Teahupo’o, as one of world’s best surfers, Kelly Slater, takes audiences on an adrenaline-drenched journey into the crashing sea. Slater challenges Tahiti’s toughest waves and at the same time, examines how waves influence and shape the planet.

Beneath the ocean, swimming with surfers, UItimate Wave Tahiti explores the stunning, fragile beauty of the reef habitat — a turbulent, wave-shaping interface that envelops the island and nurtures the ocean’s indigenous and ever-lively assortment of fish, sharks and whales.

Clocking in at 45 minutes, The Ultimate Wave Tahiti was originally shown in IMAX 3D theaters across the nation last February.

The 3D on this Blu-ray is the analog 3D that requires red/blue glasses, not the new stereoscopic Blu-ray 3D.

The Blu-ray and DVD carry the list prices of $24.98 and $19.98, respectively.
