The Clinic movie scene

Andy Whitfield stars in The Clinic.

Reportedly inspired by true events, the 2010 horror-mystery film The Clinic focuses on a couple, Cameron (Andy Whitefield, formerly of Spartacus: Blood and Sand) and his pregnant wife Beth (Tabrett Bethell, Legend of the Seeker) who take a break from their road trip across the Australian Outback and stop for the night at a desolate motel (something you should never do if you’re the star of a horror-mystery movie!).

The next thing you know, Beth is abducted from their room and wakes up in an ice-filled bathtub … with her baby gone! Could it be she’s being held captive in a crazed clinic where mothers-to-be are given C-sections against their will? Your guess…

Written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker James Rabitts, the 2010 Australian movie played a handful of film festivals in 2010. In the U.S., it’s a DVD premiere.

No bonus features come with the film, which is available in an R-rated edition and an unrated edition that adds two additional minutes of presumably gruesome stuff. We’re make that assumption based on the unrated version’s disturbing but undeniably effective DVD cover.
