The Star Trek-inspired drama-comedy Please Stand By follows an autistic young woman as she embarks on a journey to make her dreams come true by entertain a Star Trek screenplay competition.

The world is a confusing place for Wendy (Dakota Fanning, The Runaways). As a fiercely independent and brilliant young woman with autism, Wendy longs to leave the regimen of her group home and return to life with her sister’s family and their new baby, but she must first prove herself. As a lover of all-things-Star Trek, Wendy writes fantasy stories in her free time, using her unique Star Trek filter to understand the people around her. When a screenplay competition presents itself, Wendy decides to finish her 500-page Star Trek script and enter. Now, the problem is getting it there in order to meet the deadline, prompting Wendy to boldly go where she has never gone before.

Directed by Ben Lewin (The Sessions), Please Stand also features Patton Oswalt (Young Adult) as a Klingon-speaking police officer, Alice Eve (Men in Black 3) as Wendy’s sister, and the always-game Toni Collette as a kindly caregiver.

Bonus features on the discs include a selection of deleted scenes and a making-of featurette.
