Dead Man DownColin Farrell (Seven Psychopaths) and Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) seek retribution in the crime movie Dead Man Down.

Farrell stars as Victor, a hit man whose life was ruined by the crime lord Alphonse (Terrence Howard, Red Tails). Victor infiltrates Alphonse’s crew, rising up to his right-hand man. When he’s about to strike, he meets Beatrice (Rapace), who wants her own revenge from Alphonse. Together they execute a violent and cathartic plan.

The R-rated film also stars Dominic Cooper (The Devil’s Double) and Isabelle Huppert (In Another Country) and was directed by Niels Arden Oplev, who helmed the original Swedish The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which also starred Rapace. Dead Man Down is written by J.H. Wyman (TV’s Fringe).

Despite all that cache, the movie got generally bad reviews from critics, with New York Post‘s Kyle Smith calling it “silly.” Dead Man Down grossed a not brilliant $11 million in theaters, but moviegoers did like it better than critics.

The Blu-ray/DVD Combo has these special features:

  • “Revenge and Redemption: Crafting Dead Man Down
  • “Revenge Technique: The Cinematography”
  • “Staging the Action: The Firefights.”

The DVD offers just the last featurette.
