Twelve years after their one-night stand, Jake (Sudeikis) and Lainey (Brie) cross paths and realize that they’ve both become chronic commitment-phobes. Despite their obvious attraction, the two agree to keep their friendship strictly platonic. But as sexual tensions rise, their deal proves to be more difficult than they thought.
Produced by Will Ferrell (Get Hard) and Adam McKay, Sleeping with Other People features in its cast Adam Scott (The Overnight), Amanda Peet (Identity Thief), Natasha Lyonne (TV’s Orange is the New Black) and Adam Brody (Damsels in Distress). It was written and directed by Leslye Headland (Bachelorette).
Released in a limited run in U.S. theaters in September, 2015, the film garnered a so-so rating of 62% at Rotten Tomatoes based on 94 published reviews. It rang up less than $1 million at the domestic box office.
