New Release: Love Ranch DVD and Blu-ray

National Entertainment Media issued the drama movie Love Ranch, concerning Nevada’s first legalized brothel and all the ins and outs that surrounded it, on DVD and Blu-ray on Nov. 9, 2010. Starring Helen Mirren (The Queen) and Joe Pesci (Goodfellas), the independent film was priced at $29.95 each.

Love Ranch tells a pretty far-out, only-in-America story: As proprietors of Nevada’s first legalized brothel, Grace and Charlie Bontempop (Mirren and Pesce) aren’t your typical married couple. But when Grace falls for a heavyweight boxer (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) contracted to Charlie, passions erupt, leading to murderous consequences.

The drama received a tiny release in theaters in July, where it rang up a little more than $100,000, which is probably what the real-life “Love Ranch” brings in on a weeknight.

Directed by Taylor Hackford (Mirren’s husband and helmer of Ray), Love Ranch also stars Gina Gershon (Showgirls), Scout Taylor-Compton (The Runaways), Bai Ling (The Hustle) and Taryn Manning (TV’s Sons of Anarchy).

Bonus features on the DVD and Blu-ray include an audio commentary by Hackford and Mirren and deleted scenes.
